While we all would like to hold onto summer forever, Labor Day will be here before you know it. If you’re still on the hunt for Labor Day plans, we have you covered. WestFest 2023 will be here in just a few short weeks and if you aren’t familiar with this festival in West, Texas, trust us when we say, it’s a weekend you won’t want to miss.

What is WestFest?

WestFest is an annual Czech heritage festival that first took place in 1976. Held in West, Texas over Labor Day weekend, this year’s WestFest will take place September 13, 2023. Over these three days, you’ll have a frontrow seat to live music, entertainment, authentic food and drink, and countless family activities that all celebrate West’s Czech heritage.

What is planned for this year’s WestFest?

On the music front, Friday will feature live music during the preview party, followed by classic polka music and other WestFest favorites on Saturday. To wind down the WestFest weekend, you can catch even more live music on Sunday, September 3 during the annual Sunday Night Shutdown Party.

Other attractions you can find at WestFest include carnival rides, a Saturday Labor Day Parade through downtown West, the annual WestFest Polka Mass at Sefcik Amphitheater on Sunday morning, various dance performances, and an arts and crafts fair all weekend

One of the most beloved WestFest traditions though are the wide array of contests that are held, which will be back this year. Whether you want to compete in a 5K race, horseshoe or washer pitching, cornhole, kolache eating, or even in the Miss WestFest pageant, there’s a contest for you.

What food will be available?

With over 25 different food vendors, WestFest will feature not only authentic Czech food, but also American, German, and Mexican food favorites. At WestFest you can find anything from a Beer Bread Sandwich to kolaches to roasted corn.

Is there an admission fee?

Based on which day you attend WestFest, you’ll be charged different admission prices. To help you plan in advance, tickets are only available at the entrance, and admission is only in cash.

Is there parking available?

Onsite, there are two large parking lots for visitors. Depending on whether you want quick and easy access to Interstate 35, or you want to be closer to the festival entrance, there is a parking lot for you.
